About Us
Sumatara was built on a simple belief — real change begins at the grassroots.
We work closely with rural communities to understand their challenges and create meaningful solutions through education, skill development, and sustainable initiatives. Our focus is not just to provide support, but to empower individuals with the tools and confidence to build their own future.
At Sumatra Foundation, we believe that even the smallest effort can spark lasting change. By nurturing potential and creating opportunities, we aim to transform lives and uplift communities from within.
Our Impact Model
We begin by strengthening the foundation — agriculture. Through soil testing, better seed management, and modern irrigation techniques, we help farmers improve productivity while increasing their income. Training and shared growth models ensure long-term sustainability.
Phase 1 Agricultural Upliftment
Once the foundation is stable, we focus on essential infrastructure. From access to education and healthcare to sanitation and clean energy solutions, we work towards building villages that are equipped to support a better quality of life.
Phase 2 Infrastructure & Services
In the final phase, we create a connected ecosystem. By enabling digital access, improving mobility, and fostering collaborations with NGOs and government bodies, we help communities grow independently and sustain progress over time.

RAJAN CHAWLA
Rajan Chawla is the Promoter and Director of Sumatara Foundation. Based in New Delhi, he leads the non-profit’s strategic direction and governance. His responsibilities include managing social welfare initiatives and organizational compliance, focusing on delivering impactful, localized social services to underserved communities across India.
